Brandr Styrson

     Brandr was born like most young dragons, amid a blast of fire and ash. Born to a clutch of three he grew up in central Iceland on the slopes the volcano Bardarbunga. He was raised by his parents along with his clutch mates. They would often fly to surrounding farmsteads, eating cattle and pigs from the local farmers. Well stealing would probably be a more accurate term, as fire drakes are the quintessential  viking raider. Brandr was the rambunctious one of his siblings, always trying to get into trouble and new adventures.

     Brandr's father Styrmir was the patriarch of the fire drakes of Bardarbunga was always rigid in his rules, adhering to an old promise made by there fore fathers. The fire drakes would never take a human life without provocation, and in return they would keep the skies safe from all invaders, dragon or man. When Brandr was 15 as was traditional he left his parents lair and found a new one for himself nearby, claiming a small tract of land for himself to both protect and raid. 

     Brandr had always been fascinated by humans, and would often find discreet places that he could hunker down and watch, a dark shape in the twilight horizon. He found there day to day odd, and while beyond his understanding it was something that intrigued him, although it did little to impede his appetite for the local livestock.

     Recently Brandr was almost discovered by a group of would be 'dragon hunters'. He managed to avoid most of the group of ill fated adventurers but one of them managed to see him and he had to frighten the lad away, hoping the deluded rantings of a dragon in the hills would discredit the claims. A few weeks later when he went to raid the pig farmers pens he instead found a singed silver torque and a letter from an odd academy, inviting him to join...

     Fierce and territorial Brandr is still a teenager. He is used to being the big threat, but is not so fool hardy as to not recognize there are always bigger things out there. He will never back down however, for while admitting defeat is one thing a true drake never steps away from a challenge or a fight. He is excited to learn about mankind and hopes to also in the process become stronger.
